Institution and Logo

In today’s lesson (21/09/15) I learnt about institutions within media. A media institution is an established often-profit based organisation that create the media. There are 6 main institutions and other smaller institutions that work with the big institutions when creating their films. The mains ones are referred to as ‘The Big Six’ they include Warner brothers, Paramount, Disney, 20th century fox, Sony and Universal. There are others that are well known such as Lionsgate and MGM but they will never make it into the big six these are called ‘The Mini Majors’.
Although cinemas are frequently used but cinemas gain their profit through selling food and drink rather than the cinema tickets. I also found out that the main audience going to the cinema are between the ages of 15 and 25. Timothy Richards the CEO of Vue cinemas, stated that the cost of making 1 large popcorn is one pence. This therefore means that over 50% of the amount people spend on going to the cinema pay for popcorn is for the profit of the cinema itself.
Independent and mainstream films
Independent films have a smaller budget of 25 million and less, these tend to be the better films which receive Oscars. These films make you think and are normal British, because they make you think people are less inclined to want to watch them.
Mainstream films have a larger budget of 25 million plus, and tend to be American films that you don’t have to concentrate as much.

Today's task was to create a logo for our own institution for our own productions. mine is shown below:
